Dr. Bove utilizes a blood-type specific approach in helping his patients choose an optimal diet that supports their genetic & biochemical uniqueness. Dr. Bove is a Fellow of the Institute For Human Individuality, an institute that foster research in the in the expanding area of human nutrigenomics. The science of nutrigenomics seeks to provide a molecular understanding for how common dietary chemicals affect health by altering the expression or structure of an individual’s genetic makeup.

Botanical & Herbal Medicine
Botanical Medicine is the use of plants as medicine. Many plant substances are powerful medicines that are safe and effective when used properly. Naturopathic physicians are the only primary care physicians with extensive training in the preparation, dosing and prescribing of botanical medicine for specific health conditions. Dr. Bove can recommend specific botanical combinations or concentrated extracts with assured potencies that provide optimal therapeutic effects.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine includes the use of acupuncture, acupressure and oriental botanical medicine to diagnose and treat disease. Dr. Bove frequently utilizes acupuncture for treating chronic pain conditions, headaches, stress reactions, mood disorders, addiction withdrawal and balancing the nervous system.

Homeopathy
This is a 200-year-old system of medicine that uses highly diluted substances to cure illness. Homeopathic medicines act to enhance the body’s innate immune response and rarely have side effects. Dr. Bove frequently uses homeopathic remedies for children with developmental and hyperactivity issues and adults with depression, bipolar, anxiety and OCD.

Individualized Supplement Program
The field of nutraceutical supplementation covers a vast array of supplements, including: whole food concentrates, vitamin and mineral supplementation, antioxidants, amino acids, pre & probiotics, antimicrobial substances, plant immunomodulators and botanical chemotherapeutic substances. Dr. Bove is able to tailor an individual supplement program to address specific therapeutic intents for each of his patients.

I.V. (Intravenous) Nutrient Therapies
Nutrient therapies are used to administer vitamins, minerals and amino acids for maximal therapeutic effect. Nutrient “Myers cocktails” can be very effective because the nutrition is introduced directly into the blood stream bypassing the digestive process and first pass effect of the liver. Dr. Bove uses I.V therapies for immune support and in treating hepatitis, cancer and neurodegenerative disorders, as well as for patients going through an individualized detoxification programs (see below). I.V. glutathione is powerful antioxidant therapy useful in Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative conditions.

Detoxification Programs
The toxic burden of our environment is rising dramatically making everyone more susceptible to toxic overload symptoms, which may be the result of heavy metal accumulation; pesticides & organic chemical exposure; hormone imbalances from eating hormone & antibiotic treated animal-products; chemical & toxin burden present in air and water supplies. Dr. Bove uses a variety of testing methods to determine the overall toxic body burden. He may use certain chelators, botanical medicines and nutraceuticals to help lessen a toxic body burden. The program also includes therapeutic exercises, hydrotherapy, sauna therapy and ancillary techniques to help the body detox in a safe and effective manner.

Counseling & Stress Management
Mental attitudes and emotional states can be important elements in healing illness. Naturopathic physician’s training includes counseling, stress management and biofeedback. Dr. Bove received a Certificate in Counseling from Bastyr in recognition of his specialization in this area. He incorporates brief therapy techniques, visualization and breathing exercises in teaching patients to more effectively cope with interpersonal relationships and life stress.
